Drool-worthy meals: Honey Mustard Glazed Salmon

We love potlucks. LOVE. Everyone brings a dish, nobody is overworked, and everyone leaves with a full belly and a box full of leftovers for the next few days. 🙌🙌🙌 (If this is not what your potlucks are like, come find us and we'll try and make it right.)
While all potluck dishes are equal, some are more equal than others (finally found a use for my secondary school lit classes), and bringing the right dish could make or break your potluck mojo. So here are a few rules we like to follow:
Best Dish for a Potluck
Rule 1) Cooking should not interfere with getting ready for the party and should not leave you in a sweaty stinky mess
Rule 2) Recipe must be easily scalable so you can adjust for a small intimate group or a large ravenous mob
Rule 3) Dish must be able to withstand transport and still look good. Bonus points if you can heat it up on-site
Rule 4) Dish must include one interesting ingredient that you can talk about, to fill in awkward silences or to generate conversation
Honey Mustard Glazed Salmon: The King of Potluck Recipes
This is our all-time favourite. THIS is also the reason we get invited to potlucks. So what if I'm only invited for the food I bring?
Step 1: Ensure you've purchased enough Honey Mustard Glazed Salmon Prepped kits for your potluck.
Step 2: Tear open packs and put ingredients in the oven.
Step 3: FINISH! No more sweating over the stove. Now you have time to get ready while the oven does the job for you.
We like having thick-cut root vegetables because they act as an edible oven rack, lifting the salmon up as it bakes in the wonderful concoction of mustard, honey and smoked paprika. As the sauce heats, it oozes down to the veggies, basting them as they soften. The last few minutes in the oven will singe the top of the veggies, imparting a crunch to balance out the flakiness of the salmon.....mmmmm.
As you make your way to your potluck, the veggies rest and re-absorb any liquids or juices left at the bottom of the pan 😍😍😍😍. Maybe share some with the Grab or taxi driver who's getting you there....cos he's been drooling since you got in the car.
Interesting ingredient: Smoked Sweet Paprika. Most people know what paprika is, but how many actually know that there are actually multiple types? We like this variant because it imparts the smokey notes you'll find familiar with a southern barbeque or your local zi char wok hei, but avoids the spiciness from chillies generally found in smoked paprika. If you really want to impress, see if anyone can tell what wood they use to smoke this with. (Hint: Oak.)
